Quills really are a custom item. Please specify the blade and shaft length for your Quill using the options provided. This paddle isn't sized based on your height, it is custom based on how much the paddler typically chokes up on their traditional paddle and what they think will suit their paddling needs. The most popular shaft length is 27".

Solo canoeing is new to me. I will have to refrain from giving an opinion on a subject that is new to me.
This paddle is made specifically for when you're kneeling in your canoe solo. It gives you so much control and maneuverability! Great for special strokes like the sculling draw or box stroke or silent stroke or running bow pry. You can really spin the canoe around on a dime with this paddle.
I got the 27 inch handle and the 35 inch blade. It's the perfect size for me. I'm 5 ft 10 in. The short handle really lets me bring the paddle across my body without having to readjust my grip.
The handle is also great. I'm used to a more rounded handle, so this took a little getting used to, but I feel like it gave me more control.
I also got a Modified Special and that one is better for paddling when you're sitting in the seat or with a friend. The Quill feels really awkward to use when you're sitting up in the seat.
The craftsmanship is incredible to. It's gorgeous! Also amazing customer service.
