Pure Tung Oil is our recommended finishing choice for your oiled Fishell paddle. This 100% pure, hard-drying wood oil penetrates deep into the grain, bringing out the natural beauty of your paddle while creating a warm, matte finish that feels exceptional in hand.
Your oil-finished paddle will develop a lustrous patina over time, resisting marring and wear from regular use on the water. The all-natural, environmentally friendly formula protects the wood without harsh chemicals.
Maintain your paddle's finish by occasionally applying a thin coat of this premium tung oil to refresh the protective layer and keep the wood looking its best for years to come.
We ask you to re-oil the paddle at regular intervals, including prior to its first use.
Use a brush, sponge, or lint-free cloth to apply a thin layer. Let it soak into the surface until it stops absorbing.
Remove excess
Let the oil soak for at least 40 minutes, then wipe away any excess before leaving the project overnight. This step helps prevent sticky spots and promotes an even finish.
Repeat
Apply 3–5 coats for everyday use or up to 7–10 coats for high-traffic surfaces. Let each coat absorb fully before moving to the next. We recommend oiling your paddle once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year and twice* a year for the rest of its life. (*depending on use, may take more)
Allow to cure
While the surface may feel dry after a few days, it reaches partial cure around day 10, with full curing taking up to 30 days.
